Police hunt motorbike rider after schoolgirl injured in shocking crash

Shocking footage has captured the moment an out-of-control motorcycle rider mowed down a schoolgirl on the NSW mid-north coast on Monday.

Police have appealed to the public as they hunt the male rider who fled the scene after he slammed into the helpless 13-year-old near South Kempsey High School about 3.30pm on September 14.

Dashcam footage released by NSW Police shows the girl waiting patiently to cross Nicholson St, looking left and right, as the motorbike charges towards the student along a footpath to her left.

It jumps down the gutter onto the road, wobbling slightly, and drives straight into the girl, knocking her sideways and leaving her sprawled on the ground clutching at her backpack.

The rider also crashed to the asphalt before quickly springing back up and pushing the bike out of view.

The girl was left nursing minor injuries, including a laceration to her arm.

Police have described the bike as possibly being a Honda KTM dirt bike.

The rider was wearing a dark hooded jacket, dark coloured shorts and black joggers.

He was wearing a blue and white full-face helmet.

Officers from the Mid North Coast command are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information about the rider’s identity is urged to come forward or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
