Two teens in custody after 80km police chase ends in fiery crash


Two teenagers have escaped injury and are in custody after an 80-kilometre police chase from Geelong to Melbourne’s inner east ended with a fiery car crash.

Police were called to an alleged aggravated burglary at Peter Street in Bell Post Hill, a suburb of Geelong, about 4am on Tuesday where a luxury car was stolen.

The police air wing monitored the stolen BMW as it headed from Geelong towards Melbourne.

When the car was travelling on Toorak Road, there was a short pursuit before the BMW crashed into a pole near Auburn Road, in Hawthorn, and burst into flames about 5.30am.
