Four men hospitalised after wall collapses in Sydney’s east

Four men have been taken to hospital after a wall collapsed at a building site in Sydney’s east.

A brick wall at the back of a terrace currently being renovated in Woollhara, off Oxford Street, partially came down at 9.15am.

Emergency services treated two men for head and chest injuries and another two men for minor leg and back injuries.

The four men are now in stable conditions at St Vincent’s Hospital.

“This was a complicated job, our paramedics not only had to deal with multiple patients at different locations, but also had to deal with a structural collapse,” NSW Ambulance said in a statement.

“We have been responding to an increased number of workplace incidents recently and we need everyone to be more vigilant when at work and to look out for their colleagues.”

A spokesperson for SafeWork NSW said its inspectors are assisting with investigations.

“SafeWork’s engineering staff are en-route to assist with investigations and site safety. A stop-work notice was served.”
